These are definitely strange times we’re all living in right now. Reading news of the continued spread of the COVID-19 pandemic is sure to bring anyone down. But you know what we say to that? Let’s take a little break from the insanity and sprinkle in some positive news and take a moment to celebrate one of our hard-working team members. We recently sat down with Leah Wilson, Marketing & Events Coordinator at MG Studio (Midway Group’s event space in downtown Los Angeles), to talk about her evolving role, what inspires her and what she would ask Beyoncé when she finally gets that much-anticipated chance to meet her.

Now, kick back and get to know Leah. We likely all have a little extra time on our hands and could use a dose of cheerfulness. Be safe and stay healthy out there, everyone.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

I have two things – my team and the freedom and ability to grow within the company. We’re a small but mighty group and everyone here is dedicated to their job and always willing to be a team player. We all wear many hats and are all very good at what we do. It feels good to be part of a team like this.

To my second favorite, having the support and encouragement from my management team to grow to my fullest potential is phenomenal. I really do feel that they only want to see me succeed and have provided me with so many tools and resources to do so.

How long have you worked with Midway Group? MG Studio?

I worked for Midway Group back in 2008. I worked as an Admin/Account Manager for about a year and got laid off due to the big recession in 2009. I experienced unemployment for a while and worked a few jobs but David (our Vice President) and I remained friends all these years.

He reached out to me on Christmas of 2017 to wish me a Merry Christmas. He told me about his new office location and all about MG Studio. I was living in Vegas at the time and trying to find my way back to Los Angeles. He immediately thought of a position for me and suggested we link up.

I met with him in January and it was kind of crazy how things just fell in line after that. I moved back to California and returned to the team in February 2018. One of the best decisions I’ve made thus far … and also my favorite comeback story.

Dream car?

Powder blue convertible 1967 Ford Mustang with white leather interior. Or, a matte black G-wagon with all black interior and chunky wheels.

What gets you excited about starting your day? What motivates you?

New opportunities to do something I didn’t do the day before. No day is promised to any of us and I feel like if I was given this amazing gift of another day to be great, happy and be a gift to others, then that’s what I’ll do.

Spirit animal?

A house cat on most days … and a puma on others.

Favorite band from the 90s?

No Doubt. Who doesn’t love Gwen?

Favorite place you’ve traveled to?

Puerto Rico. I felt most at peace on that trip.

What are you most proud of?

Being able to keep long lasting relationships with the ones I care about. I make it a requirement to let people know how much they are appreciated and how grateful I am to have them in my life. I don’t think many people recognize that it’s the people in our lives and the love we give and receive which truly makes life worthwhile.

If you could share a meal with anyone in the world who would it be? What would you ask them?

The Obamas and the Carters. I would ask them what their biggest struggles are and how they work to overcome them.  How do they remain humble through it all? Are they humble?

If you could choose one superpower what would it be?

The ability to take away physical and emotional pain from anyone conflicted and replace it with love.

Any final words?

I’m Leah and I’m here to bring the party!
